Sociology Everyone has been taught to have six inch voices when you are at the library. So the folkway that I chose was to walk into the quietest part of the library and yell. I chose this because the library is a naturally quiet place for studying, reading, and concentration. So I figured I would get a strong response for not doing my social role. Ever since I started school I have internalized the social controls of the library which is to whisper and be quiet, and by yelling in the library I know this will be a negative sanction. Going into my experiment I was expecting strong reactions such as: glares, shushes, people turning around, others getting up and leaving, and even people telling me to be quiet. I thought the main reaction would be people giving me shushes, because that seems to be such a natural reaction.
