As I sat watching this year's Extreme Games (X Games), I recalled the days when I used to skateboard. Seeing the different skateboard competitions made me think of the different types of skateboarding. People skateboard in three major forms: Vert, Street, and Cruise. These forms of skating are unique and different in their own ways.
Vert skateboarding is mainly consisting of skating on a half-pipe. A half-pipe consists of two connected concave ramps. Basically a large ramp shaped like a "U", hence the name half-pipe. This form of skateboarding involves dropping in from one side, going down, and coming up on the other side to lift out of the pipe and do a trick. Vert skateboarding originated from the empty swimming pool. Empty pools were often targets of vert skaters for its convenience and large skating space...
