One of the things that separate man from beast is knowledge. The main function for education is to gain a greater knowledge that we already have so we can better understand our selves and live more freely. Education is the single most important thing that every human being has. Some people don't have the resources available to gain education in a school setting, but nevertheless they still gain education through different experiences that they encounter in their lives.
In order to understand the function of education, we must first understand what education is. Education is more then just going to school and memorizing pieces of information for an examination. Education is the process in which one gains a greater knowledge of truth. The best way to gain knowledge of things is to ask questions. Many historical philosophers would agree with this statement.
