After all the time spent in the ceramics class room and discovering what works, and what falls apart, or blows up in the kiln. I have finally got to the stage where I feel comfortable with playing around with clay. This is why I decided to pick Karyn Pepper as my artist for this essay. Karyn was a determined mother that went through 2 marriages, and had a love for the performing arts and also the fine arts. She started out as a secretary and then flipped between jobs and her own businesses but still ended up to be a well known contemporary artist, that sells her work in many art galleries.
Although Karyn started her adult life as a business woman she ended up to be a contemporary ceramics artist. Karyn's parents divorced in 19 70, which put a halt on many of her performing arts and fine arts activities and classes, due to the shortage of money. She began her working life as a secretary but after 5 years her free spirit called for a career change. In 1986, Karyn joined an advertising agency as a junior account executive. She then, within 4 years worked her way up to senior account director, but then again her free spirit side prevailed and she needed another career change...
