Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15th, 1769 in Corsica. He was the second son born of Carlo and Letizia Buonaparte. His parents were members of a noble Italian family. His father was a lawyer and his mother a wife and mom. When Napoleon was nine, his parents sent him off to military school. He was picked on for being an outsider. While Napoleon was there he spent most of his time mastering military tactics. He graduated at the age of 16 and became a lieutenant of the artillery. When the revolution broke out he joined the army of the new government. After it began he became a lieutenant in the Corsican National Guard. In 1793 Corsica declared their independence and Napoleon went back home to his family. He was assigned to be a captain of the French army. After his victory of Toulon, he was appointed Brigadier General at the age of 24. On March 9th, 1796 he married Josephine de Beauharnais. When he met her she was a leader of the French Society. She had two kids from her previous marriage and she was 6 years older than Napoleon. The French people didn’t trust the Directory and they had lost the confidence of the French. The only thing keeping them in control was because of the army.
