In 1996, President Clinton wanted ban welfare. Welfare is when low-income people are in need in which they need to have financial or other aid provided to them by the government. The people who are on welfare have to work at city agencies in order to get their welfare check. The main problem with this situation is that these people who work as hard as normal workers, only gets paid the pay as city workers. These people are called WEP workers, and they only get paid minimum wage with no kinds of benefits whatsoever. Some of these WEP workers have been mistreated while working and they don't even have the right uniforms to work.
These issues are important because these people are still human beings that live on this earth. We all should be treated equally. It may or may not be their fault if they are on welfare, but at least they are trying hard to do what they have to do to maintain their everyday life. If a city worker would get paid $10 an hour to clean up trash, these WEP workers would get paid minimum wage, but with no benefits...
