Why they might want to play college football
"WE ARE NOT WORKING HARD ENOUGH, WE ARE MAKING TO MANY MISTAKES," (Schembechler 44) Bo Schembechler would yell at his team. Bo is written by Bo Schembechler & Mitch Albom. It briefly tells of Bo's childhood, but really goes into detail about his years as the head football coach at the University of Michigan. The book ends with "Straight Talk: College Football" a section about Bo's beliefs on what changes need to be made to college football to keep it appealing to kids. Bo's use of anecdotes and reminiscences show what a great experience football can be for a student; it causes one think about why they might want to play.
Schembechler expresses that football is a fun and rewarding sport to play in. It can be a lot of hard work, but he believes that football helps to build character. Bo says kids should be able to say the following after playing college football.
"You know, for all the things I've done and seen, that was still the best time I ever had. It was tough, it was hard, and the old coach could be a son of a bitch...
