Xbox Case
In this write-up I'm going to analyze the entry of Microsoft in the video game-console industry. This represented a major shift in Microsoft's strategy as it means a big investment and a great effort in the developing process. Did Microsoft a profitable "diversification"? Was a "foul" play as the other manufacturers said?. I'll try to answer, in my personal point of view, to those questions.
A swot analysis of the launching shows us the following issues:
Strengths Weaknesses
- Strong corporate culture and brand.- Microsoft had a great financial muscle to sustain such investment effort and a long fight.- Video Game players see it as good news.- Microsoft has experience in video games as one of the publishers.- Microsoft is used to work in a changing computer and software industry..
