One of the most popular forms of intertaiment in the world today is television. After a heavy day at work or school the easiest and most relaxiling of pasttimes is idly staring at a moving image on a screen and letting it wash away all the stresses and pains of living in the real world. In my opinion however, watching TV excessively should be discouraged.
In the first place, there are far healther ways of spending our precious leisure time. Both adults and children are known to spend hours and hours every day sitting in front of the TV screen. This obviously takes away the time for engaging in active sports such as soccer or tennis. As a result television is contributing to the rise in obesity which is becoming recognised as a great health hazart of modern life because of the long term illness that it can cause such as heart failure and diabets. Then, there is also the harmful effect on our eyes of sstaring at a TV screen for such long periods to consider. It can weaken our eyesight and make us suffer from myopia. Moreover, TV can have a damaging effect on our psychological wellbeing...
