Food changes as time and culture changes. Korea is rapidly changing into a much more modernized society and gimbap is one of the foods that evolved from this modernized society. Gimbap is a Korean roll that the Koreans have recently started eating. Koreans, today, have to struggle to get jobs since there are so many people in Korea, which means they have to work harder to prove that they are more competent than others in order to be hired. Because of the limited amount of employment these days, students are always busy studying and going to after school programs to receive high grades and achieve acceptance to colleges. They are also pressured by their parents to attend extracurricular activities and programs because it gives them a better chance to survive in such a populated country. Because Koreans are very busy people, they are very impatient at times. Simplicity and easiness is important to this impatient society. Gimbap symbolizes modern-day Koreans and their culture. The way the gimbap is made, the way it's consumed, and different gimbaps that are made in various regions of the country shows the modernism of the Koreans and the Korean culture...
