In the world of Forensic DNA Profiling there are many methods available for the use of the scientists. With the help of scientists, the judicial system has found many different uses for these methods of profiling. Although there are many methods and many different ways that these processes can be used, the question of reliability is arising more and more.
In order to understand how the profiling system works, it is essential to understand that DNA profiling is a comparison of DNA fragment lengths and patterns. There is no standard procedure for the use of DNA (McElfresh, Vining-Forde, and Balazs 149-150). One of the methods that is most commonly used is called restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, or RFLP. This type of profiling was used in the O.J. Simpson court case.
