The novel Black White and Jewish illustrates the life of a young girl torn between two worlds and two families. She is expected to be a little white girl when she lives with her father and a little black girl when she is living with her mother. She is never allowed a normal life with one family who accepts her for what she is, a black and white, Jewish girl. The author, Rebecca Walker, goes through many changes in her family structurefrom the time when her parents were together until they divorced and headed in two different directionsin Black White and Jewish.
