CRASH
The novel Crash, written by J.G. Ballard chronicles the behavior of a 40yearold television commercial producer and a scientist who goes by Vaughn, as they turn mortal and horrifying automobile accidents into their own erotic fantasies. Along with James and Vaughn is James' wife Catherine and Dr. Helen Rubenstein a car crash survivor who ironically was involved in a car crash with James that fatally injured her husband. To round out the cast of mysterious characters are Gabriella a car crash survivor, Seagrave a (Stunt Man) and his Wife. All of these individuals live intertwined with their obsessions of head-on, rear-end and front-end car crashes as well as the scars that these crashes leave behind. These select individuals get turn on by hideous surgical wounds caused by these collisions. Yet not only are the aroused by the remnants of the car crash but a majority of the arousal begins in the actual happenings of the accident. These characters become obsessed with the details of the accidents...
