The movie, Gangs of New York, is story about the worst riots in American history before the New York Draft Riot of 1863 occurred in the Five Points. Hidden within the colorful history of New York City, a dark period beckons. During that period men were savages and the streets were their war zones. It was a struggle for power through the blood of corruption. The story starts back to the earliest forms of immigration. During the mid 19th century, a large portion of the Irish population immigrated to New York for their dreams. Riots the two major political parties, Tammany Hall, which was Democratic based and the Native Americans which made up the Know-Nothing party, used gangs as enforcers for the loot of public funds and to obtain control of the city. Amsterdam Vallon, a young boy at the time, watches as his father, Priest Vallon is slain during the horrific fight for authority. The chief of the Dead Rabbits was dead by and a little Amsterdam became an orphan and Amsterdam returned to Five Point from forced labor to avenge his father's murder. In history, many Northern and Western Europeans who have light skin color and blonde hair come to America before 1880, but Irish immigrants were poor and dirty...
