Is Downloading Really a Crime?
Are you going to buy that new Obie Trice CD? Why should I buy it when I can just download it on the Internet? Does this sound familiar? Over the past few years there has a big issue if downloading on the Internet is ethical. Such internet companies that participate in peer to peer file sharing, like Kazaa, Blubster, Hotline, and the infamous Napster, have been targeted by record companies that have been losing much of their sales due to online music downloading. Although many believe that downloading music on the Internet is un ethical, I believe that it helps the music industry grow and flourish.
Downloading music online gives new artist a chance to get their music out and heard. For example, take 50 Cent an artist from Jamaica Queens New York who got his name out from having his music downloaded off the Internet. This artist went from rapping on street corners and home made studios to one of hip-hop culture's new up and coming rappers...
