Fitting in. I can say that fitting in has continuity in my life, family and in the world around me.
For example, my seven-year-old niece, Imani, ran into the room in her best dress, a dress covered with ruffles, lace, and bows. Lace stockings and shiny white patent leather shoes completed the outfit. "I'm ready," she said.
My sister looked over at her. "Imani", you're not wearing that. This is an outdoor birthday party, sweetie. All the other kids will have on shorts and tennis shoes."
"But I won't", Imani said...
