1) Individuals and organisations have become so dependant upon I.T. systems that the consequences of their failure could be catastrophic to the individual or the organisation. Give two different examples of types of I.T. system for which failure would be catastrophic. In each case explain why the failure could provide to be catastrophic. An example of an I.T. system that if failed would have catastrophic consequences, would be the system that operates the traffic lights and the speed cameras in a major city, for example London. If all of the traffic lights in the centre and greater London were un operable, there would be no way of regulating or controlling traffic, and because of this, there will be a build up of traffic and some drivers may try and break the speed limit on certain roads, causing chaos on the roads of London. This could have catastrophic consequences to both the drivers on the roads, and the pedestrians on the pavement or crossing the roads, as the possibility of road accidents will be increased.
