What is a computer virus? A virus is a small piece of software that piggybacks on real programs, and each time the program runs, the virus runs. It has a chance to reproduce, damage and erase all the important data you have on your computer. A computer virus passes from computer to computer like a biological virus passes from person to person There are several different types of computer viruses. One type of virus is an email virus, and email virus moves around in email messages, and duplicates itself by mailing itself to everyone that was on the victim’s email address book.
