Loneliness is one of the major themes of Of Mice and Men. Several of the characters in the book are alone. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck shows
How being alone affects different characters. Each is affected in a different way. Throughout the novel, the theme of loneliness is mostly expressed in the characters of Crooks, Candy.
Crooks is discriminated against because of his race. He lives in all by his self, and he is not allowed the others rooms on the farm. Crooks explains his situation when Lennie asks him why he is not wanted: "Cause I'm black." They play cards in there, but I can't play because I'm black. They say I stink...
