People of all different cultures and backgrounds suffer from mental disorders. There are many different kinds of mental disorders, such as anxiety, depression, ADD, bipolar disorder, borderline, eating disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia and social phobias. These disorders are found to be treatable through therapy and sometimes medication. These disorders can be treated by many different theoretical orientations. Psychoanalytical therapy and reality therapy are two different ways these patients can be helped. Although the disorder is the same the therapy in which the patient is treated can make a big difference. Not all people respond to the same type of therapy the same. One who undergoes psychoanalytic therapy may not have the same results if he or she were to have a reality therapist.
Reality therapy, also called choice therapy, is based on choices. The outside environment or past experiences should not play a role in a client's decisions today...
