Throughout history man has looked upon religion for guidance in life. He has sought answers and, if he was lucky enough, he found them. Hinduism and Buddhism, two religions and philosophies that originated in the East, have been a way of life or a guiding tool for many Easterners and even Westerners on a spiritual path of enlightment.
In this essay, I will be exploring the major differences and similarities found between Hinduism and Buddhism.
One of the differences I noticed immediately between Hinduism and Buddhism is that Hinduism is considered a religion and Buddhism is more recognized as a way of life. Allow me to explain what I mean by this. Firstly, to become a Hindu you must be born a Hindu. This is not true in Buddhism, as anyone choosing to take the path can become a Buddhist. Secondly, the Hindus believed in God, in fact they worshipped several Gods. Most Hindus picked an idol to represent their God and worshipped that idol exclusively...
