William Barret Travis
William Barret Travis was no stranger to the frontier life. He was born a farmer in 1809, in Mine Creek, South Carolina. Travis was the eldest of 11. This helped him learn how people act and how to lead them having so many siblings looking up to him. He had great courage and a great sense of the surroundings, which all helped him become famous even today.
Before Travis was 8 he and his family moved to Alabama to start farming. Here he learned more about the frontier but decided he should try being a lawyer or teacher. He was a great teacher, then lawyer. When he married Rosanna Cato, one of his students he became in debt. This is where details of what happened to him become sketchy...
