Rap, a significant part of hip hop culture music, has emerged as one of the most distinctive and controversial music genres of the past decade. Rap is the form of musical idiom that articulates the ethos of hip hop culture. ... Although created by black youth on the street, hip hops influence has become worldwide. Hip-hop slang is essentially an unwritten medium, and though some terminology is integrated into the academic format, any attempts to make the net mimic street conversations seems to be seen as trying to force a parallel relationship that cannot realistically exist.
