Caring or Overbearing: What Kind of Parent are you?

Although almost any parent would agree that even when they make decisions that, in their children's eyes, may seem unreasonable, they are only trying to protect their children and help them make the right choices for themselves. However, many parents don't realize that they may have crossed the line between being a caring and concerned parent and being a controlling and overbearing parent. They do not always stop to think how their children feel and that maybe they need the chance to become independent and make their own decisions.
There are many children that choose to stand up for them selves and as a result, rebel against their parents. They feel that by doing the opposite of what their parents expect from them they are showing them that they will not give in to the pressure and that they just want someone to hear them out. Although, they may be making the wrong decision, as a parent one must allow them to make their own mistakes every once in a while and be able to learn from them. The more a parent can trust their child, the more the child will respect and obey them. A lot of the time that is the best thing a parent can do for a child. Children just want the chance to show their parents that they have the ability to do things for themselves and do not always need their parents hovering over them telling them if they are right or wrong...
