COUNTER-CULTURE
(TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN)
Foreword: when I saw the musical Hair, listened to John Lennon or Janis Joplin songs, opened my Mum's wardrobe with all that wonderful hippie costumes, I couldn't resist choosing the topic dealing with counter-culture. Thanks to this essay I could learn more about all unbelievable cultural events that happened in the sixties. I concentrated mainly on music, fashion, hippies and also drugs, which were inseparable part of it.
As a source I used books, which are listed on the last page. I used Internet as well, but it helped me rather to read about the events on the basis of different people's experience, as they were often quite subjective and not very suitable as a reliable source. My essay is based mainly on comparison of different materials. These helped me to find out the most important events of the sixties and finally to create my own essay.
INTRODUCTION
The sixties were characteristic for people's different attitudes to life, rebellion and society provocation. It was associated mainly with young generation of that time so the term youth culture was often used. When the sixties began, youth culture meant the way adolescents lived...
