The Feelings associated with the use of Ecstasy. Because of Ecstasy's "FEEL GOOD"
Reputation it is quickly growing more popular among teens and young adults, without
Consideration to the potentially harmful short term effects and long term consequences.
Methylendioxymethamphetamine also known as Ecstasy, X, or MDMA is
a mood/mind-altering drug that affects the chemical level of Serotonin in the brain,
Serotonin is a Neurotransmitter that can alter emotions, sleep, and appetite. Chemically
Ecstasy is an Amphetamine, but psychologically it is known as an empathogen and an
enactogen. Empathogenic means the ability to communicate with others and Entactogenic
means to feel good with yourself. Ecstasy is in most cases distributed in pill or capsule
form that can be either eaten, snorted, or smoked. Ecstasy takes effect 20-40 minutes
after initial dose, and It's effects can last from 3-5 hours. Some initial physical effects
can include sweating, nausea, jaw clenching, pupil dilation, increased heart rate, dryness
of the mouth, increased blood pressure, and increased body temperature. Initial
psychological effects may include a relaxed feeling, altered perception of time, decreased
aggression, increased openness, and emotional warmth. After-effects or withdrawal
symptoms associated with ecstasy are muscle aches, fatigue, headaches, depression, acne,
and paranoia...
