Through culture, the characters of Woman Warrior and Ceremony receive justification of their alienation of Maxine and Tayo. Using stories, Chinese culture and family, the characters in Woman Warrior have a politically correct basis for making Maxine feel alienated for being a woman. Because Tayo is a half-breed and he values the Indian ways Tayo feels alienated from the rest of the characters in the book, and white people receive basis for their alienation of Tayo.

A) No-Name woman is an example of a story that brings women down in society. No-name woman has a child while her husband is away. The village responds by attacking and destroying her house. Maxine shouldn't mention her to anyone in her family because she has been denied existence.
