4. Wal-Mart's hits and misses
ONE OF WAL-MART'S GREATEST STRENGTHS is size, which allows it to test new ideas without worrying too much about short-term failures. Here's a look at a few of the latest hits and misses from the powerhouse retailer:
HIT: Online DVD rental.
Wal-Mart has received strong customer reaction from the new service, now available in certain markets through its consumer Web site, walmart.com. Customers pay $15.54 a month for an unlimited amount of DVDs, with more than 13,000 titles to choose from.
MISS: Used cars.
Looks like cars aren't exactly an impulse buy at Wal-Mart. Last year the company began loaning space to Asbury Automotive Group...
