1930's Through 1960's

Depression, War, Love American history is full of many events: war, depression, independence, exploration, and much more. The 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s are no different. The three different decades show America fighting through poor economic times, fighting through a war, and then fighting to get back to a world power. The mood of the people change, too, along with the passing of the time. It shows the people being hopeless, scared, happy, and sad. What’s happening in America affects the mood of the people. In the 1930’s, many different things were happening. The states were in depression, after the market collapsed on Black Tuesday in 1929. People lived in towns of shacks, called shantytowns, and waited hours upon hours for bread in the breadlines. Jobs were lost, houses were abandoned, and people lived in the streets, with only the clothes on their back, doing whatever they could just to survive the economic downfall. President Herbert Hoover is doing too little to help boost the economy and the people are pleased when 1932 comes and they can select a new man to help spark the failing industries. The people elect Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and they are happy with the job he does, because they elect him to four terms until the time of his death.
