I have chosen to write on John Brown and will give a brief look on who he was and what he was about. He was born on May 9, 1800 in Torrington, Conn, where his family had a strong religious background and felt slavery was a sin. This is where his anti-slavery beliefs steamed and why he fought as abolitionist to free the slaves. After having his own family, (13 children in all) he was still very much opposed to slavery and felt he was on a mission from god to free the slaves.
He started his pursuit by terrorizing the proslavery people in the new territories. He had followed his sons to Kansas and attended to keep the state free of slaves. It was the attack on a small town of Lawrence, Kansas that John Brown found his notoriety for his cause. It was here that five proslavery men were killed. Brown, even though he claimed he had no hand in the killings, he saw no wrong in it.
He was man destine to change this country even if he didn't succeed to free the slaves, he did give shock to the South on the attempt of freeing them...
