Alcohol prohibition tore America apart once, now it is the war on drugs. Harsh laws and the threat of jail and fines will not stop drug use. All they do is make it harder to help people. And just as Prohibition created organized crime, today's drug laws keep organized crime alive -- with all the violence and corruption that goes along with it. If Canada were to legalize weed approximately one third of the population believes that there would be a traumatic increase of people, especially young people, of smoking weed. Most people calling for it to continue be illegal are ill informed and form their opinions based upon the propaganda coming from these sources, and rarely have any direct experience of the drugs itself or first hand access to the research data, and they form a biased opinion about weed. Canada has just legalized marijuana, (in certain provinces), for the terminally ill; I don’t see why it wasn’t legalized fully. Marijuana can be used responsibly and safely if given the chance. The legalization of marijuana could benefit those who have ailments, which could be treated with a natural substance, but are not in enough level of pain according to the government’s regulations. However as much as I am for the legalization of marijuana, I do have the concern of what might happen if marijuana were to get additives.
