a) Identify some philosophical issues for religious believers that evil raises.
The problem of evil for religious believers adds an additional challenge to their faith. This is the challenge of how an all-powerful, all loving and all knowing God can allow his creation suffer without trying to stop evil. This challenge is usually used as an argument for not being able to believe in God or sometimes known as the atheist design argument.
This problem is specifically for those who believe in a classical theistic God. Those who believe in a variety of Gods with different characteristics do not have the same problem.
The problem outlined is: -
God alone created the universe out of nothing, then God has total responsibility for everything in it. If God is all-powerful then he can do anything that is logically possible. This means that God could have created a world free of evil...
