When Conscience Comes Into Play

"It is neither right, nor safe to go against your conscience. Here I stand. I can do no other." Those are the words of the famous theologian Martin Luther, who stood up to the powerful Catholic Church and turned the world upside down. Luther was a simple monk who found that the Catholic Church was corrupt and political. He stood alone in his findings while the church told him to obey and recant his teachings. Luther was faced with death if he did not obey, yet he held true to his beliefs and obeyed the only person he trusted, himself.
In a world where people tell themselves they can do anything they put there minds to, it seems much of the population is reluctant to go against the social norm and follow their own beliefs. Humans follow and obey the latest trends they see on television, which is fine to a certain point. It crosses the line when people start to go against their own moral values to fit in to the majority...
