1. What three things impress you most about this company? Why do you think Southwest appears on fortune's list as one of the most admired airlines in the world?
Many aspects of Southwest Airlines are very impressive. Early advertising gimmicks such as dressing flight attendants in colorful hot pants and white knee-high boots and offering free day time drinks managed to spread the word of the new airline. In an attempt to keep prices down as fuel prices raised CEO Herb Kelleher asked each employee to initiate actions that would save the company 5 dollars per day in non-fuel costs. The fact that Kelleher believed that employees, not customers, came first is also a very admiral aspect of Southwest. These are among the same reasons why Southwest appears on fortune's list of most admired airlines.
