Daystar: A Literary Passage Analysis
Poetry is the expression of one's heart and mind. It is often used to express thoughts and overwhelming emotions of a person. As in Rita Dove's poem, Daystar, she clearly embodies a woman's different roles and how it is intertwined with one another. With that being said, the persona in this poem presents conflict between her family, her sense of responsibilities and duties for them, and her own desire to discover her inner self.
Her duties being mother tends to occupy most of her time. She is so worn down by her duties that she just wants to be in a place where she could indulge her self " and think of that place that was hers for an hour- where she was nothing, pure nothing, in the middle of the day".
Being a mother plays an essential part in a family. She is always the one that we look forward to in all the things having to do with home and family. This responsibilities can be so exhausting at times especially if it's not well shared of. She is always expected to be nurturing and patient...
