“A cut above” Miami student and cadet Erin Holmes named “tops” in Air Force The cadets endure the physical training, honing their survival skills. In order to pass Air Force field training they must survive: for three days and two nights, they are in the field, no beds, no toilets, no amenities. It’s physical conditioning, training, they must pass the test, they must survive. Only one cadet will make the ultimate grade, will receive one of the highest honors. Only one can be awarded the Warrior Spirit Award; the cadet who embodies the ideal of the Air Force in appearance, fitness, attitude, enthusiasm, general support for the armed services, and who not only emerges as a leader, but who can work as a member of the team. This time the award goes to the petite 4-foot, 10 ˝ inch Erin Holmes, an Air Force cadet from Miami University.
