The place of women has always been identified with the home and children. In the 19th century, women were believed to be biologically inferior to men. They were denied from taking part in most occupations, advancement of education, and owning property (Goldfield et.al.p.424). Most women accepted their simple lives, but a few decided that they were not going to settle, and became the forerunners of the women's rights movement in society. Women became involved in their communities and began showing what they could do. They lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied and in time achieved a change in the Constitution and the course of the American Woman.
