The Kind Of Monument I Would Build
If I would ever get the chance to build a monument it would be something to keep the memory of Aaliyah alive in the hearts and minds of the people who loved her.
Aaliyah is more then a woman, more than a legacy, more than a dream, that is why i would create a statue for her. I would place it somewhere in Brooklyn, New York, the city where she was born.
The statue would have to be very high, because even her name - Aaliyah- means in Arabic "the highest, most exalted one, the best". I wouldn't put a face to it, I would make it look like a shadow, the shadow of Aaliyah, so that she will never be forgotten.And the shadow would have the wings of an angel, because that what she was: an angel on earth, and also to symbolize the fact that she had an angelic voice . Then I would make a dove on her shoulder, the symbol of purity and goodness, and also Aaliyah's great -lived life. Aaliyah herself had a tattoo of a dove in dedication of her grandmother, and at her funeral there were twenty two doves released, one for each year in Aaliyah's life so that is why I think the dove has many beautiful meanings in the life of the amazing person that was Aaliyah.
The statue should be very simple, it should represent everything that Aaliyah was: a humble,sweet and beautiful person that always had this.....
