The God in the book of Genesis is a god that has extreme preferences as well as, absolute power to ensure those preferences are met. The use of direct intervention into the human condition by the God of Genesis completely encompasses society's behavior, individual roles, and power structures. It can be seen in the inequality of the genders, to cosmic and magical events that commonly take place throughout Genesis. It is clear that the God in Genesis is capable and willing to intervene in any situation that does not meet his desired end. For if he is the creator is he not capable of influencing his creation?
The God in Genesis' initial intervention takes place with creation itself. The importance of order and purpose in creation bring to head the need of the first intervention for man and the first consequence that shapes the Genesis society. It seems that woman in being created second was valued always as second best. Even within the language of creation woman is created secondary. This becomes evident when God observes his creation and says, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him...
