Male and Female Interaction

The following play and poems, share the same theme, which emphasize the interaction between males and females. Susan Glaspell play, Trifles, shows men repetitively belittling the women's concerns in a patronizing way. "Women," a poem by May Swenson, discusses how men perceive women as objects. The men did not see or treat women, as equals. The poem titled, "In the Orchard," by Muriel Stuart, also confers the theme of relations between men and women.
Glaspell play, Trifles shows the relationship about gender, power, and truth through a murder mystery. Throughout the play, the male characters are looking for clues on John Wright's death. Glaspell wrote this play from a male's point of view. The males were completely oblivious to the unseen environment around them. While the men were looking for clues, the female characters were silently talking about the tragedy, and actually figure out the clues to the mystery...
