Over time, Americans grew less and less supportive of the Vietnam War. While there are many reasons for this, Americans becoming disillusioned, the draft, and the role of the television are particularly significant.
Americans have become disillusioned by the war in Vietnam. Many Americans knew very little if anything about Vietnam, but they saw the Vietnam War as a battle between communists and non-communists. Many Americans asked "why are we going to war?" We went to war to fight for the Vietnamese's freedom. This shows how much the word "freedom" means to the United States. Not only do we fight for our freedom in the United States of America but also for other weaker countries that can't fight for themselves.
