While I have achieved only a novice level of listening skills in regards to classical music, I felt as though I had a taste of nearly every style of composition one could think of. ... I was simply blown away by Beethoven’s “Hammer Klavier. ... After listening, I would offer the hypothetical answer that they call it the Hammerklavier because Beethoven had written three separate pieces and then took a hammer to the scores and beat them into unrecognizable shreds and then pieced them together to form this work.
