Group Report In our discussion group, we had a fairly well discussion about the book. We discussed points about our personal responses, responses to asked questions and insight from one another. For example, one of the questions was “What caused Winston to hire a prostitute to sleep with him?” Everyone in the group had their own interpretation. Bill and Felix believed that Winston hired a prostitute due to his recent divorce; he had the divorce because of lack of sex with his wife. So by hiring a prostitute he was just trying to fill the gap that his wife had created. Similarly, Idil thought that Winston hired a prostitute because he hadn’t had sex for a while, and as a man he needed it.
