Marijuana is addictive and ruins the individual's life!
Marijuana, often known as weed, grass, pot or reefer, is a greenish gray mixture of the dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of cannabis sativa, the hemp plant. The major active chemical in marijuana is Delta-9-tetrahydrocanabinol (THC), which causes the mind-altering effects of marijuana intoxication. The amount of THC determines the potency and therefore the effects of the drug. We live in a drug-orientated society where marijuana is the nations most commonly used illicit drug. More than 83 million Americans (37 percent) age 12 and older have tried marijuana at least once according to the statistics done by the National Household Survey on drug abuse in 2001.These numbers seem to be increasing dramatically, as time goes by the drug seems to be accepted by many people as being harmless. Marijuana is addictive and causes consumers of the substance physical and mental problems to cope with. Although these individuals do not realize the negative impact it is having it will ruin their lives.
People are easily influenced to smoke marijuana for numerous reasons which include the media, peer pressure, individual problems etc...
