A Roman Catholic archbishop named Oscar Romero who was the Archbishop of El Salvador in Central America believed that it was right to speak out against injustice wherever he saw it. Oscar wasn't a rich man and he was a coward but he was very clever. He had never been expected to be a hero. When he became archbishop the people believed that he would not cause trouble and things would carry on as before. At first he wanted to keep to the traditional way. He didn't want to cause any trouble. Soldiers attacked at an open air mass. Many were killed, anyone who spoke out land reform or Human Rights was taken away, tortured and killed. Romero still didn't want to cause any trouble with the authorities. When father Grande was murdered in a jeep with a peasant and a child Romero took a stand...
