In ‘Dead Man Walking’ Matthew Poncelet has murdered and raped a young teenage girl and murdered a young teenage boy. Matthew and another man was in the woods and they saw a car which inside was the boy and the girl and told them to get off there land, but they didn’t so they took it in there own hands to sort it out as a bit of fun. In the end only Matthews seaman on the girl so he was sentenced to the DP (the death penalty) and was sent to death row to be killed by deadly needle. Now sister Helen Prejean is a roman catholic nun who helps Matthew get reconciliation (confess to his sins) and be forgiven for what he’s done and be accepted into heaven. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT As many of the new testament teachings state; Jesus sets out an ideal and, in a world which many innocent people suffer from crime in there areas these teachings can be seen as unrealistic. The questions for Christians are how to implement the law on criminals who break the just fashion (law).
