Within every writers life the experience of writing and the act of writing are very different. Often writers will dream about their characters before they sit down to actually write anything at all. In "The Glass Tower," Reinaldo Arenas describes the authorial process and imaginative world of the author. Many times what we think a piece may become is really nothing at all. The creative process is a very important part of the writers' world, and often defines every aspect of the authors' life.
In the life of Alfredo Fuentes, the authorial experience is quite extensive. The act of writing and the act of defining ones characters and their roles occupy Fuentes personal and social life. "The Glass Tower" begins with Fuentes trying to establish a life outside of his writing.
