Has anyone ever told you to smile for the camera? Have you ever heard you are not fully dressed without a smile? Did you know a smile is good for the heart? Although some may think smiling is insignificant, it has a larger impact on the world than most realize. Smiling makes one feel good from head to toe, on the outside and all the way through. An expression of happiness, in the form of a smile, helps problems seem easier to handle, shapes the surrounding environment into a better place to live, and influences how people view the world as a whole. Smiling is one of the keys to living in a happier, more peaceful society. Even when experiencing some of life’s difficulties, smiling can help ease the effects of many problems. Throughout my life, I have always done my best to keep a beaming grin on my face. I learned a long time ago that smiling can make a person feel better. One glimmering expression can have a great personal impact on an individual. While growing up, I have realized that turning a frown upside down helps to improve the over-all outlook I have on life. A smile offers the encouragement that most people need to get through the day. A perfect example of this would be the song, “Put on a Happy Face” from the musical, Bye Bye Birdie. It says, “Gray clouds are gonna clear up, just put on a happy face.” If people would think of something happy and grin about it when they become upset, then they would feel a thousand times better. The positive, warm feeling that results from a smile can instantly make a difficult situation easier to handle.
