The age and educational level of these juveniles was of great importance. The ages of the juveniles that come thru TYC range from under 12 to 19. In the year 2000 the most common age that a juvenile was committed to TYC was 16 with about 1016 juveniles, where as the age that came out with the least juveniles was at the age of 18. From the ages of under 12 to about 15 the numbers ranged from the 30's to almost 700 juveniles committed at that time. It shows that the last grade level that most juveniles completed was 8th and only about 254 juveniles completed 10th grade or above. This shows that many of the juveniles dropped out before high school. The IQ of about 31% of the juveniles was between 90-99 in which the median IQ was about 91, which means that they were of average intelligence. Only a small percentage of the juveniles had an IQ under 70 and over 120.
