When it rains it pours, an old saying that may hold true for the rest of the world but not Arizona. The other day it rained, more of less drizzled all day long it was wonderful. The rain was not only pure enjoyment for anyone who loves rain, but it also brought a pleasant beauty to everything it touched. The rain in Arizona is an exceptionally beautiful thing and is different at all parts of the day: morning, noon and night.
The other morning the sky was overcast. A haze of gray, flat clouds covered the sky for as far as the eye could see. The rain came in little drips here or there but nothing substantial until just after the sun rose above the Superstition Mountains. Once everything was in a gloomy glow the rain began, no strong or amazing torrents of rain but a gentle downpour of small cold drips of water. The rain hit the ground and left it marked like a piece of paper blotted with ink. The dry Arizona earth soaked up the rain and as quickly as the rain fell its mark on the earth disappeared...
